Sandstone Patio and Brick Retaining Wall, Gravesend
Hazel wanted to neaten and improve the garden at her property in Gravesend, replacing the existing paving with a new sandstone patio and creating a clear separation between the patio area and the rest of the garden.
The work began with the removal of the old paving slabs and existing stone bricks, clearing the area ready for the new patio installation. The ground was then carefully prepared, with a suitable foundation created for the new sandstone paving.
A brick retaining wall was constructed to create a defined boundary between the patio and the remainder of the garden. Hazel specifically wanted the new wall to incorporate a single step, providing convenient access between the two levels while also creating a neat and practical feature within the garden design.
The step was carefully constructed as part of the wall and also acts as block edging around the garden area. This creates a strong visual boundary while giving the patio space structure.
The final stage was the laying of the new sandstone patio and matching sandstone step. The natural appearance of sandstone paving provides an attractive and timeless finish, creating a welcoming outdoor area.
The natural sandstone paving, brickwork and the integrated single step gives Hazel’s garden a practical layout while creating tidy separation between the patio and garden.
“I’m very pleased with the new patio and brick step, the work is very neat and I felt I was listened to throughout the whole process. A big thank you to the team for their hard work.”
