Melanie reached out to us for a project concerning the creation of a raised porcelain patio using garden sleepers at her picturesque home in Royal Tunbridge Wells.
Melanie is an avid gardener and had long wanted to do something with the empty lawn space at the end of her garden. Inspired by her raised beds she wanted a raised Indian sandstone patio using garden sleepers, with additional sleepers used to demarcate space that could later be used to carve out new planting beds.
An important part of the job was closely surveying the land so the patio had a sure foundation, and precise measuring and cutting of the sleepers and patio tiles was required to ensure they fit perfectly into the irregular, diagonally edged, corner of the garden.
Once the surveying was complete the installation was relatively straight forward, with the garden sleepers naturally aiding in the bolstering of the sub-base. The tiles were then cut and carefully laid, and at Melanie’s request a simple patio step was installed which would later be surrounded by a planting bed.
Melanie is thrilled with the new Indian sandstone patio, giving her a place to rest in the shade of her beautiful garden and to work on her new planting beds.
